I LOVE PARIS. OPRAH: BEGAN WHEN HE WAS A YOUNG BOY GROWING UP IN PARIS. >> I WAS REALLY 13, 14, I WAS THIS TYPE OF CRAZY BOY JUST DESIGNING SHOES. OPRAH: HE WENT ON TO DESIGN

SHOES FOR FASHION ICONS LIKE CHANEL, BUT HE DEVELOPED AN IMPASSIONED FOLLOWING WHEN HE LAUNCHED HIS OWN LINE 16 YEARS AGO. >> DESIGNING MY SHOES, I’M THINKING TIMELESS NOT

TRENDY. OPRAH: DESIGNING WHAT HE CALLS LIFE-FILLED ART OBJECTS, LOUBOUTIN HAS A BUSINESS WORTH MILLIONS. HIS INSTINCTIVE ABILITY TO KNOW WHAT A WOMAN WANTS COMES IN PART FROM A

CREATIVE PROCESS LIKE NO OTHER. >> BEING ON A TRAPEZE IS LIKE DREAMING. I FEEL TOTALLY OUTSIDE OF MYSELF WHEN I’M FLYING, WHEN I’M DESIGNING SHOES. YOU KNOW, IT’S MY IMAGINATION

IS FLYING ON MY DRAWINGS. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE] OPRAH: SO, HERE’S THE DEAL, CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN WAS ON HIS WAY TO CHICAGO FROM PARIS WHEN HE CAME DOWN WITH BRONCHITIS SO, HE

COULD NOT BE HERE AND SHAWNA ROSE WAS ALREADY ON THE PLANE FROM HIS TEAM AND SHE CAME IN HIS PLACE. SO, WE’RE GLAD TO SEE YOU. IT’S OK. SHAWNA SAID SHE’S A LITTLE NERVOUS.

[CHEERS AND APPLAUSE] >> THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING ME. OPRAH: I SAID,High Heels for her, SHAWNA, JUST CALM DOWN. WE’RE NOT TALKING ABOUT WAR, WE’RE JUST TALKING ABOUT SHOES. IT’S GOING TO BE

ALL RIGHT. [LAUGHTER] OPRAH: ALL RIGHT, SO,chrisitan louboutin heels, THESE ARE LIKE WORKS OF ART. I MEAN, I KNOW THEY’RE EXPENSIVE. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE. I LOOK AT THEM, AS I SAID, LIKE PIECES OF

SCULPTURE. IS THAT THE WHOLE IDEA, TO DESIGN ART FOR THE FOOT? >>

As FFANY pitches in to raise money for the cause, it will also honor some of footwear’s finest. And, in another new twist, each winner will receive his or her award from an

industry icon.
Christian Louboutin will be named Designer of the Year – the same honor FN gave him in 2005 – to be presented by Diane von Furstenberg. (For more on Louboutin, see page 30.)
Zappos.com CEO Tony Hsieh will accept his company’s award for Innovative Retailer of the Year from "Sex and the City" author Candace Bushnell. (FN also named Zappos.com best e-

tailer last year.)
The Fashion Footwear Company of the Year honor will go to Jimmy Choo, with company CEO Robert Bensoussan on hand to accept the award from an as-yet-unnamed presenter. (For

details, see page 28.)
Meanwhile, the award in a new category, Stylist Extraordinaire, will be given to June Ambrose, celebrity fashion stylist and author, who will accept her award from Stephon

Marbury, of New York Knicks and Starbury sneakers fame.
"Sopranos" star Jamie-Lynn Sigler will pick up the Celebrity Fashion Muse award. Her presenter’s name was also not available at press time.
And FN Editorial Director Michael Atmore will accept an award for Journalism Excellence, to be presented by designer Kenneth Cole.
Adding more wattage is the new "Be A Star" contest. A panel of celebrity and industry judges will determine which attendees are "Best in Shoes," in the Most Amusing, Most

Elegant and Sexiest categories.
Familiar Faces
QVC’s Lisa Robertson will once again host the event’s TV broadcast. This time, office shoes, however, Robertson will actually sell six styles on site in addition to her reporting duties.
"Lisa is one of our most popular hosts, and beyond interviewing people at the gala, she’s now actually going to be selling," said Charney. He noted that the change was based on

QVC customer feedback, adding, "It’s the Super Bowl of ysl shoes. People tune in."
QVC execs said the network has received overwhelming customer response to the event. Charney noted that one breast cancer survivor in Florida throws a soire each year for her

friends, who all watch the broadcast. &quot, chrisitan louboutin heels; It’s power shopping.

It was only when his friend Bruno Chamberlain suggested they start their own shoe company that Louboutin’s planting was replaced by a world of pumps and slingbacks.
After the duo became one of the world’s best-known labels (a pair of Louboutin rope-wedged espadrilles currently costs about £160 and stilettos start at about £300), they clubbed together to buy the kind of garden both dreamt about: 25 acres of private land and a classical French chateau that was once owned by Chamberlain’s family -they lost it during the French revolution.
The business partners bought the house in 1985. It was a semi-ruin, with "absolutely nothing of a garden except, perhaps, a few nice trees", says Louboutin. These included a ginkgo biloba that overshadows the front of the house, office shoes, a couple of magnificent cedars of Lebanon and the poplars that line the drive, rustling in the breeze.
The rest they have landscaped from scratch,High Heels for her, digging holes themselves for scores of magnificent trees all over the property -oaks, horse chestnuts, beeches, genista, firs, cypresses -digging trenches, creating vegetable gardens and planting the box and yew hedging that gives the garden its formal edges.

Do you have a favorite shoe?
You know what? Its always the next one. Its always the one that I havent yet finished designing. It switches from &nbsp, christian louboutin heels; one shoe to another. Every season, theres always one, then after that its going to be surpassed by another that I  havent designed yet.
Whats your inspiration when designing, and where do you get it?
It comes from everywhere. Everything you look at, you can see in so many ways. From objects and people to attitudes  and conversationseverything has something that can be transformed into an element of decoration and element of a  shoe.
Like, for instance, this shoe [gets a pair of black pumps with a bow at the back] was inspired by a picture of a fish  hiding behind a sea anemone. A well-done shoe for me is something that is beautiful, but the first thing you must always&nbsp, office shoes; look at is the woman. The shoe must be at the service of the woman, not the woman at the service of her shoe.
Tell me about your current collection. Whats it all about?
This here is my Autumn-Winter 07-08 collection. It has a lot of satin, suede and patent, but what I used a lot this  season were actually bright metallics, which already started last season. Another inspiration was graffiti.
Can you see this trend staying? What do you think will next season be all about?
You know what? Im not thinking ahead. Im just drawing whatever comes to mind.
What kind of woman is the epitome of Christian Louboutin? What kind of woman should wear your ysl shoes?
It can be a lot of women, but it has to be a woman who likes being a woman. That would be No. 1. She is also into  femininity and is someone who is playful, I would think.

That both memories revolve around shoes that were either considered forbidden or illicit is, according to Louboutin, a huge factor in having shaped his oeuvre. So too is the

fact that what imprinted itself on his psyche was footwear that harked back to the refined chic of the Fifties – a period that continues to influence his work.
Born in 1963, Louboutin was a child of the Seventies. Seeking refuge from the decade he found himself growing up in, he immersed himself in the sex-ualised glamour of the world

of French music hall revues. By 14, he was already a familiar face at the Moulin Rouge and Folies Bergre. His passion for dancing and showgirls disrupted his schoolwork to such

a degree that he stopped at-tending altogether. By now, he’d set his heart on designing christian shoes for showgirls, and so at 16, pitched up at the Folies Bergre. "I arrived in the

middle of a rehearsal and it was great. I had drawings of louboutin heels for every girl, I knew all their names," he chirrups. "The girls saw my drawings and were like ‘wow, office shoes, what is

that, this little boy, christian louboutin heels, how sweet you are’ and I became a little mascot."
